Madilina House was built and conceptualized by Pierre and Julie Abgrall who first visited Kerala in 2004 and fell in love with Kerala and its people. After searching for their dream spot they found it on the island of Valiya Pazhampally Thuruthu. The spot ticked all the boxes. The location was ideal, a place of great natural beauty, an area seeped in history and historic sites including Muziris, the ancient port and the pristine beaches of Cherai just a short drive away. Madilina House is fusion of traditional Kerala architecture and European comforts. The interiors are tastefully decorated with a collection of many interesting artifacts and antiques collected by Pierre on his numerous trips exploring the little known parts of India.
Madilina House was built in 2011 as a home away from home. This concept is still very much the center focus at Madilina House. With a lush green lawn and tropical greenery, riverside views and swimming pool it is an ideal spot for an escape from mundane city living. Here life flows at a gentle pace. The house is small enough with just four rooms and a suite, to offer a personalised experience with the team of fully trained staff to look after all your needs. Its an ideal spot for people looking for a relaxed time, detox and rejuvenate the mind. For those active persons there are some specially curated experiences that are on offer from local village experiences, kayaking on the river, cycling trips and beach visit etc. Our team will be happy to assist you in choosing the activity most appropriate to your liking.
Sustainability and Responsible tourism at Madilina House is an important part of our culture . We are very aware of environment and our responsibility to keep it healthy. We do not promote the use of single use plastic at Madilina House. Complimentary potable drinking water is provided in reusable glass bottles which can refilled at any time from the dispenser provided. All the ingredients used in the kitchen is sourced locally from either local families or market. We also have a kitchen garden where we have a selection of fruits and vegetable that we offer guests. All the staff at Madilina are local and we provide employment to people from the community. When you stay at Madilina House you can rest assured that the community also benefits from your stay. In addition we also assist with local community and socially responsible projects.
